In addition to the fire, approx. 5,000 gallons of Quench Oil leaked from the building as the fire sprinkler system filled the tanks.
The Hazmat Team responded to control the oil. Absorbent booms were used to control the oil until two overflow dams could be built with the assistance of the Solon Service Dept and the Solon Water Reclamation Department.
Mutual aid for additional sorbants were requested from Summit County Hazmat, Twinsburg Fire Department and the Geauga County Hazmat Team.
The entire operation took about five hours to complete. Other response agencies included Ohio EPA, Inland Waters and Clean Harbors.
