Tractor Trailer Accident -
Mayfield Heights, Ohio
Mayfield Hts Fire Dept requested the hazmat team to assist with a tractor trailer that had driven between two bridge platforms down the embankment, across the street under the bridge and back up the other side.
The trailer was torn in half and the driver was unconscious and trapped until he was extricated by the fire department.
The trailer was placarded with flammable and corrosive placards.
The hazmat team evaluated the multiple containers present in the 53 foot trailer, which ranged from one gallon containers thru steel totes.
Hazmat team members assessed each container and then prepared it for hoisting with a crane. Some drums were overpacked.
The hazmat team remained on scene while the tractor and trailer were secured and hoisted to the roadway above.
The Southwest Emergency Response Team was requested for mutual aid manpower to assist with the incident.
