Gasoline Tanker Struck Fire Truck -
Oakwood Village, Ohio
Firefighters from Oakwood Village Fire Dept had just finished extricating a woman from a car accident on Interstate 271 when their pumper was struck by a gasoline tank truck (DOT406). The pumper was pushed from the trafffic lane of the freeway to the berm and the tanker sustained minor damage to the fuel lines.
The hazmat team was called. Upon arrival the hazmat team established air monitoring with AreaRaes, extended the hot zone and assessed the damage to the tanker.
A containment pond was put in place. The gasoline tanker was bonded and grounded. Another tank truck was brought to the scene and the remaining product was transferred.
Fortunately, no one was hurt in this accident.
