Meth Lab
Garfield Heights, Ohio
Garfield Heights Police and Southeast Area Law Enforcement (SEALE) served a warrant on a suspected illicit methamphetamine laboratory in a house in a residential area.
While processing the lab, narcotics officers became aware of a chemical odor and summoned the fire department and hazmat team to access the situation.
Four members of the hazmat team responded on a limited response of the hazmat team. Hazmat Technicians entered the house in SFPC and SCBA and used air monitoring instruments to assess the safety of the atmosphere and whether it was safe for law enforcement officers to work in Level C PPE with SAR's.
Once the safety of the atmosphere was determined, narcotics investigators finished processing the lab for prosecution.
This is a good example of Unified Command working well. No one was injured in the investigation.
