Intermodal Yard
Maple Heights, Ohio
As intermodal containers become more common, so have incidents for our team involving them.
In the incident pictured here, a driver reported liquid dripping from the container when he picked it up at a yard in Maple Heights.
The yard contacted Maple Heights Fire Dept who responded and requested the hazmat team.
Shipping papers indicated that the container contained seventy 55 gallon drums of organic acid, NOS from a Chinese company.
The container was opened by hazmat techs and examined. It was determined that the leakage noted was not from the acid containers and appeared to be a petroleum lubricant.
The railroad police were summoned to reseal the container, and the driver continued on with his trip.
